Mangrove Restoration Partnership

Trincomalee

02 February 2025

As part of Oceanpick’s ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship, we are actively collaborating with the Forest Department to support mangrove restoration efforts. During a recent site visit, Oceanpick ESG team identified two hectares of land suitable for planting, with formal agreements currently underway to secure access.

The Forest Department will lead monitoring activities and provide technical expertise to ensure ecological integrity throughout the project. This partnership enables Oceanpick Private Limited to implement measurable sustainability outcomes and contribute meaningfully to coastal ecosystem resilience.

Restoring Coastal Ecosystems, One Mangrove at a Time

At Oceanpick Private Limited sustainability is not just a business strategy—it’s a responsibility. Our Mangrove Planting Initiative is a powerful expression of that responsibility, aimed at restoring Sri Lanka’s coastal ecosystems and contributing to global climate resilience.

Mangroves are nature’s guardians of the shoreline. They protect against erosion, absorb carbon dioxide, and serve as nurseries for countless marine species. Recognizing their ecological importance, Oceanpick has partnered with local communities, schools, and environmental groups to plant and nurture mangroves along vulnerable coastal zones near Trincomalee Bay.
