Aquaculture Biosecurity Awareness
With Dr. Fouzi, we trained ~55 families on fish disease risks (viral, bacterial, parasitic), basic hygiene, and good aquaculture practices. We also supported them with ration packs.
Why It Matters
- Prevents disease outbreaks and cuts unnecessary antibiotic use.
- Protects household incomes linked to fish and reduces environmental harm.
- Builds a direct link between science/experts and the community.
Possible Impacts
- Short term: better hygiene around gear and ponds
- Long term: fewer outbreaks, steadier incomes, less antimicrobial resistance, and better product quality.
