World Fisheries Day Awareness
With the Fisheries Department and the Public Health Inspector, we ran sessions on sustainable fishing, ocean conservation, and community health (including dengue awareness and prevention).
Why It Matters
- Encourages legal, selective, and waste-wise fishing practices.
- Links cleaner landing sites and handling with better public health.
- Builds trust and coordination between government, community, and Oceanpick.
Possible Impacts
- Short term: improved handling/PPE, cleaner landing areas, and better waste control.
- Long term: stronger compliance culture, healthier communities, and more resilient fisheries value chains.
