Sampalthivu Mangrove Cleanup
In honor of World Ocean’s Day, Oceanpick proudly joined a collaborative plastic cleanup initiative at the Sampalthivu mangrove area, organized by the Forest Department and the Science Society of Thissa Maha Vidyalaya. This event brought together students, environmental advocates, and local authorities to protect one of Sri Lanka’s most vital coastal ecosystems. Mangroves play a critical role in maintaining biodiversity, preventing erosion, and acting as natural carbon sinks.
By removing plastic waste from this sensitive habitat, the cleanup directly contributes to ecosystem regeneration, wildlife protection, and climate resilience. Oceanpick’s participation reflects our ongoing commitment to community-driven environmental action and our belief that real change happens when organizations unite around shared goals. We’re proud to stand alongside partners who are equally passionate about safeguarding Sri Lanka’s natural heritage.
