We’re Making Waves for a Greener Future: Oceanpick Wins Bronze at the Presidential Environment Awards 2025

Nov 17, 2025

We are proud to announce that our China Bay, Trincomalee farm has been honoured with the Bronze Award at the Presidential Environment Awards 2025, under the Animal Farm Category (Type C & D).

This milestone holds special meaning — Oceanpick is the only aquaculture farm in Sri Lanka to receive a Presidential Environment Award this year. It reflects our steadfast commitment to sustainability, responsible ocean stewardship, and ethical aquaculture that places Sri Lanka at the forefront of environmentally conscious seafood production.

Recognising Environmental Excellence in Sri Lanka

The Presidential Environment Awards are organized by the Central Environmental Authority (CEA) under the guidance of Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Environment.

This prestigious national program honours institutions and individuals that demonstrate exceptional performance in environmental conservation, pollution control, resource efficiency, and community-based sustainability initiatives.

Recipients are evaluated based on stringent criteria including:

  • Compliance with national environmental regulations
  • Implementation of sustainable resource management systems
  • Environmental innovation and continuous improvement
  • Contribution to local communities and ecosystem protection

Earning this recognition is a proud validation of Oceanpick’s ongoing journey to align business growth with environmental responsibility and social progress.

Why We Were Recognised

  • Our award represents years of consistent action and measurable results. Key factors that contributed to our win include:
  • Strong Environmental Compliance: Continuous monitoring of water quality and seabed health to maintain thriving marine ecosystems.
  • Climate Action & GHG Accountability: Greenhouse gas inventory aligned with ISO 14064 standards and clear Net-Zero ambitions.
  • Circular Waste Management: Innovative systems to reduce waste, repurpose fish by-products, and enhance resource efficiency.
  • Nature-Based Solutions: Ongoing mangrove restoration and seaweed pilot projects promoting nutrient absorption and biodiversity recovery.
  • Community Engagement: Local programs in Cod Bay — from coastal cleanups and school support to marine awareness campaigns.

Global Certifications: Verified adherence to ASC, BAP, and SMETA 4-Pillar standards, ensuring transparency and traceability across our value chain.

Guided by Our Three Pillars of Sustainability

Every achievement stems from our long-term commitment built around three guiding pillars — Ocean, People, and Fish.

Ocean: We protect the lifeline that sustains us. Through responsible farming, pollution prevention, and blue carbon initiatives, we aim to nurture oceans that remain healthy for generations.

People: We empower the communities that share our waters. By investing in livelihoods, education, and youth programs, we ensure sustainability benefits every shore we touch.

Fish: We raise our barramundi with integrity and care. Adhering to the highest welfare and biosecurity standards, we deliver clean, traceable seafood that supports both human and planetary well-being.
