Plastic-Free Fisheries Harbor & Community Cleanup
This cleanup expanded the focus to both the harbor and the surrounding community areas, systematically collecting plastics and handing them over to authorized waste collectors, with 10 kg sent specifically to NRC. It recognized a simple reality, that marine pollution doesn’t start in the ocean, it starts in streets, drains, and daily living spaces. By cleaning beyond the harbor edge, the initiative helped reduce the flow of litter carried by runoff into the bay. It also opened space for informal conversations with residents and workers about how and where waste should be disposed, and why segregation is the only way recycling can really happen.
