Plastics-Free Cod-bay Harbour – Fourth Cleanup Program

Cod Bay Harbour

01 August 2025

Oceanpick proudly completed the fourth phase of its ongoing Plastics-Free Cod-bay Harbour initiative yesterday, marking another milestone in our mission to protect Sri Lanka’s coastal ecosystems from plastic pollution. This latest cleanup was conducted in strong partnership with the Sri Lanka Navy and the Fisheries Harbour Corporation, and for the first time, we were joined by fishermen from the Cod-bay Fisheries Society—a meaningful step toward deeper community involvement. Their participation reflects growing local ownership of environmental stewardship and shared responsibility for the health of our oceans. From Oceanpick’s side, university trainees and executive staff also took part, reinforcing our commitment to hands-on sustainability and intergenerational learning.

Why This Program Matters

  • Removal of plastic waste from harbor and shoreline
  • Strengthened collaboration with local fisheries and government bodies
  • Engagement of youth and professionals in environmental action
  • Protection of marine life and aquaculture operations
  • Continued momentum toward making Cod-bay Harbour Sri Lanka’s first plastic-free harbor

Each cleanup brings us closer to a cleaner, safer, and more resilient coastline. Oceanpick remains committed to leading by example—through innovation, collaboration, and community-driven impact.
