Plastic-Free Fisheries Harbor Continued Cleanup

Cod Bay
31 Oct 2025
Oceanpick continued the harbor cleanup series with CFHC and SLNS Mahaweli, sending 12 kg of collected plastics to NRC. This kind of ongoing maintenance is what keeps the harbor from slipping back into old patterns. Regular cleanups make pollution visible and visibility creates accountability. Over time, repeated action also helps identify what’s really driving the problem: where waste collects most, what types dominate, and what community habits need support to change. The initiative reinforced that preventing marine pollution is not a one-time effort, but a steady commitment that protects both the environment and livelihoods.
